This Butterfly is Lethal... new Scene T shirt by Living Dead Souls

Neon prints, lethal beauty and irresistible designs is what Living Dead Souls is most proud of. Once you're in their world, you want to reach for more and more... And you know next thing in your heands might be a teddy with bleeding heart and tee with neon ribcage splashed all over it, it's just too hard to resist!

LBC felt in love with Living Dead Souls only this year, after one of fashion shows in London, and we did everything to bring these amazing neon Scene Clothes to our shop. With most awesome selection of Kitty Ears Hoodies and (my favorite) Bunny Ears Hoodie, it's no wonder the Living Dead Souls family is growing every month! In December it was arrival of new fluffy cuddly and irresistible Hot Pink Bunny Ears Handbag and Neon Ribcage Ladies Scene T shirt.

Beauty can be lethal if combined with most amazing design and edgy message. Neon colours in this ribcage Tshirt are so totally Scene, with rainbow blue, red, green, purple and yellow, splashed all over black short sleeve Girls Tee. Irresistible, magnetic, pulling you with soft material, most flattering design and promising to bring fresh vibes to your look everyday!

This T shirt is what Little Black Cherry loves the most in Scene Clothing, everyday fashion with a deadly edge and magnetic cuteness. You can wear this Living Dead Souls Tee with Black Skinnies, plain Hoody and cute Scene Jewellery and Fingerless Gloves and it's perfect outfit all day long, lunch in a pub, college lessons, evening with friends... You'll always look just right, and stay true to your Scene roots! Perfect!

How To Hook Jelly Bracelets?

Jelly (gummy) bracelets are very popular with Scene Kids, and can usually be purchased in a pack online. Some schools have devised secret coding for the colors of bracelets they wear. You can wear your jelly bracelets as is, or hook them together. Follow these steps to hook together your jelly bracelets.

  • Find two jelly bracelets to hook together. You can use the same or different colors.
  • Hold one bracelet in each hand, and place them on a table with the right one laying halfway over the top of the left one, so they look like a Venn diagram.
  • Use your left thumb to press down on the left side of the right bracelet. Use the bottom of the same thumb to simultaneously hold down the left side of the left bracelet.
  • Grasp the right side of the left jelly bracelet with your thumb and middle finger. Lift it about an inch through the middle of the right bracelet while still holding down your thumb on the left sides of the bacelet. Lightly hold down the right side of the right bracelet with the ring finger of your right hand.
  • Bring the bracelet you are holding with your thumb and middle finger to the left, and push it down on the table into the middle of the left openning, moving your left thumb out of the way. Hook the left side of the right jelly bracelet with the middle finger of your right hand, and pull it about an inch.
  • Pinch the left side of the left jelly bracelet between the thumb and index finger of your left hand. Pull it up while pushing your right thumb down and pulling your right middle finger up. Keep pressing down on the right bracelet with your right ring finger.
  • Replace your right thumb with your right middle finger. Grab the free end of bracelet with your left thumb. Push down with the back of your right middle finger. Pull up with your left thumb and index finger, pinching the two bracelets together.
  • Push your right hand through the new openning that you created with hooked jelly bracelets. It will be snug. You may have to push and stretch the bacelets to fit your hand through.

Skinny Fit Scene Emo Ladies Black T-shirtShort sleeves, neon edgy Ribcage rubber print on the front. Awesome Living Dead Souls Black Ladies Tee

Talks of next photoshoot started for good, we were hoping to get it organised in December, but I guess it's not a good time to take another challenge when all you think is to wrap it all up and head home for Christmas Holiday :) So the models and photographers (2nd & 3rd year photography Students at University of Plymouth) will meet for major Winter Shoot in January. Really exciting times, as there's so many individualities with strong vision and theme for the shoot, I do love working with people who have clear ideas and are 'on mission' :)

I am really excited to work with these young students (6 photographers - it's gonna be major!) all of them put their ideas across and gave me fresh looks on what style photos they see for our Scene Clothes collection. It's absolutely amazing to work with new talents, fresh ideas just pop out easily, and it blows my mind what can we do with it :)

Absolutely excited, we'll finally get a chance to produce quality photos for our new Big Baby Scene Jewellery collection, new Living Dead Souls Hoodies, T shirts and Bunny Ears Handbag (which arrived only yesterday!)

There's also chance to do experimental shoot with awesome Plymouth based photographer Philip Trengove and alternative makeup artist Eloise Kerr coming over from London. It might be an extra shoot, just to try new things out, but the vision of having our collection showcased this way is absolutely amazing - and look forward to both shots!

Big thank you goes again to Simon Standing, Head of Photography at University of Plymouth, who once again helped to make it all happen, his help, advice and great will are never to be forgotten, and I look forward to working with him on all my future projects.

Friday, 3 December 2010

I get so many different sale calls everyday, maybe 'many' is a strong word, but 3 - 4 a day give me enough headache. Specially when I sit by the desk all day, and phone rings just by my ear. And with number recognition I know it's another lovely sales person (or just pre-recorded message being played), so do not even bother picking up :) They got so clever now, that they do not play the message straight away, they wait few seconds till you say 'hello' or say your greeting. Efficient, polite? Don't think so. I think being sales person has got as much charm as being Greenpeace volunteering on the streets, you just feel like being kicked in 'b&*%s' 1000s times a day...

Sometimes when I'm in town and I see one of those volunteers with unbreakable smile and enthusiasm, standing there all day long in the cold (and it's pretty cold right now in UK!) I stop just to chat and cheer them up, maybe that's my bit for environment? Anyway, I admire these people, I think I would just sit and cry after an hour, and would quit and never go back. These people got nerves of steel, and I heard some Greenpeace volunteer calling his job 'gold mining' - that's cute :) What a spirit!

Create Your Own Designer Skinnies!

You love your favourite Skinnies, but you know them inside out, they've been your best companion for the good part of last few years... Now you are little bored with them, but heart tells you not to throw them away just yet. Here's smart little move you can make to give your Skinnies new life and fresh look. It is extremely unusual, quite brave, but unbelievably bold and catchy. Simply create triangular cut-outs along the legs. They can be placed on the front (as in the photo) or on the side.

To create this look you'll need:

  • flat surface
  • razor blade
  • triangle template for cutouts
  • felt tip pen / marker (non permanent)
  • extra piece of cardboard
  • your skinnies

  1. First prepare your triangular template, it can be small triangle cut from old cardboard box, around 4" long. Put your Jeans on to visualise how to cut them. You can have regular cutouts all along the leg (as in the picture) , or just few irregular peek-a-boo ones :) Place cardboard triangle where you want your cutouts to be and mark area around it with black marker. If you want your cutouts to be smaller further down the leg (as in the photo), simply draw a line only along the top of your triangle template (that way you'll get smaller size cutouts while keeping the same shape)
  2. Now take off your Jeans and place them on flat surface to define the shapes of your cutouts more neatly with marker.
  3. It is extremely important that you remove your jeans before cutting. This will prevent you from cutting and possibly injuring yourself while trying to cut holes in your jeans.
  4. Place protective cardboard inside each leg before cutting to avoid unnecessary holes in bottom layer. Be carefull when cutting, take your time, and cut carefully along the marked lines. Have fun and be creative!

New Big Baby Jewellery just landed in LBC, and today we can't get enough of touching this beauties. Juicy rich shades, amazing thick acrylic, you can see they are made with enormous attention to detail, each and every curve, ending is finished with love. We adore this new collection, and Maggie, style and beauty editor, snapped the Red Berry Bow Bangle straight away. We have to say, it looks simply stunning with neon pink nail polish she's sporting today, and we're slightly jealous. Cherry Hair clips will be a must as well, their juicy, and look like they walked out straight from Alice's Wonderland. We're positively amazed today.

Dark Colour Nail Polish - How to Avoid Nail Discolouration?

I personally love my nails being done, always paint my nails everyday, seems like hassle, but I so got used to it now, it takes me only around 3 mins to do two coats. I love it! My bathroom stand contains more nail polishes then face tonics, creams and cotton pads. There's nothing more fun for me then picking new color nail polish.

But what I really dislike is having discoloured nails after using dark pink or orange nail paint for too long. What I used to do is just give my nails a 'color-rest' for few days and paint them in some light pink or nude.

But what I discovered just recently, is that you can put first coat of light pink nail polish (going directly on your nails), and then second coat your favourite dark colour! There's no more discolouration, it works like a treat. Just get your dark nail paint from quality brand (my favourite is Revlon) that will give you good coverage. When it comes to base nude nail paint, I usually go for Maybelline, as their polishes work really good for my nails, they don't over-dry them and don't cause split nails. Really recommend!

Eggplant helps fade freckles?

Freckles are beautiful, but if you're desperate to fade them, there is hope.

Take a freshly cut slice of eggplant/aubergine and rub it on your freckles each morning. In about a week, you should notice significant fading.

It won't remove them completely, but it should fade them enough to be less noticeable, or so that you can use a little make up to conceal them.

How To Become Convincing Evil Hitchhiker?

Hitchhikers are not always chatty happy breed, specially ones hiking in Halloween period. They can be rather little less friendly, and more hungry. For extreme. So no surprise hitchhikers are often pictured as evil murderous kinds in horror movies. Now for Halloween night you can become one of them, it's also breaking from usual Zombie bunch.

It's deadly easy to become convincing Hitchhiker from Hell. You don't need new shiny clothes, old trousers, T-shirt and some good old back pack should do the job. If you can, treat your trousers (specially the ends) with pumice, to give them some worn-out effect and take some threads out. It will look like you have done good mileage to date. Having a backpack with you is both great prop as well as practical thing, you can always keep there drinks, cosmetics etc. Just find some really old rucksack, you want to convince all you are dedicated hitchhiker indeed...

Now to add some spice to your outfit here's important bit - to differentiate from your average hitchhiker you need to look evil. Prepare cardboard sign saying 'ANYWHERE' but add to it some blood stains, eg. sprinkle it with red paint, or make red smeared hand prints all over it - it will freak all out! If you can grab some toy axe, knife or chainsaw. Just to make sure you fit into murderous tone of the night...

How To Do Zombie Makeup?

Zombies are growing popular for Halloween look, it’s their time! You got the outfit, attitude and right moves, but what about the makeup? You want to look the part, not too life-like, otherwise you’ll be recognised as human among other Zombies, and results may be fatal... So get ready, read these tips to become true Zombie:

  • You should be pale, your face can’t bear any life juices underneath, so arm yourself with some good coverage white / pale foundation and powder. Cover all your face, mouth, around the eyes, ears, and the neck! If you wish, spare some of this treat on your arms and hands if uncovered.
  • Get some seriously dark eye shadow: grey, navy and green work best. Put it on your upper and lower eyelids, you can mix all three colors together for even better effect. Create dark circles around your eyes and blend it well.

Zombie Makeup Inspiration

Use a foundation a shade lighter than your natural skin colour, and apply it evenly into your skin, and also below the jaws and chin, to blend it with your neck, and avoid 'mask effect' :) On top of that apply very pale compact powder.
Using black eyeliner, create a thick black line, on both the top and bottom.
Take a grey eyeshadow, you can apply this all over the lid, and even below, for the 'no sleep zombie' look.
Apply mascara and some red or black lipstick.
You don't have to be too careful with the makeup.
The more smudged and dramatic looking, the better!

How To Become an Alternative Model?

Alternative modelling is getting more and more popular, with burlesque, rockabilly and psychobilly trends getting into mainstream fashion. Edgy looking girls are deffinitely more popular now then polished models back from the 90s! Alternative modelling becomes quite attractive thing to do for young aspiring photomodels. But how to get into this, where to start? Taken from interviews with current (and in demand) alternative models, as well as our own experience, we've prepared few tips which will help you start in this business...

  • First - practice posing at home in front of the mirror! The more you do it, the more aware of your body you'll become. You should always know how stand, tilt your head or smile to look best in front of the camera. Should you look from down or up? Should you place your hands on the hips, or on waist? You will learn it quickly and soon automatically know how to pose!

  • Now, the make up. The rule is to put heavier make up for the shoot then you do everyday. More foundation, eyeliner, mascara or eye shadow - always accentuate your eyes! Try different make up at home and take pictures of yourself to find the right look. You will be often required to do your own make up for the shoot, so practice it as often as you can. Invest in good quality cosmetics and don't forget to take them with you every time you got booked!

  • Preparations: when meeting with the photographer for the first time, take your portfolio pictures with you, no matter the quality (no harm in having professional photos done, of course) but the point is to show how versatile and photogenic you are. Photographer will judge you, not the quality of the photo :)

  • When booked for the shoot, bring as many accessories as possible: shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, find out what is the main theme (eg. Summer Catalogue, Halloween, Burlesque) and bring whatever suitable. People on the set will cherish you for something unusual which will spice up the photos, ie. funky feather hat or cool sunglasses!

  • When arriving at the shoot, always be on time, take printed directions with you and contact telephone number in case you get lost! Also remember to take packed lunch and plenty of water with you - the shoot might take all day, and heat from the lamps can be exhausting.

  • Be patient, listen to instructions of photographer and other people on the set, be natural, relax, but come with your own ideas too - it can be really appreciated!
